Program Description: As work, workers, and workplaces continue to evolve, traditional workforce planning approaches are no longer sufficient. This session explores how
organizations can intentionally design their future workforce by shifting from job-based thinking to skills, capabilities, and outcomes. Participants will learn a practical, strategic roadmap for workforce planning and design—using skills and competencies, flexible talent models, and clear accountability—to ensure the right work gets done by the right people, in the right way. We’ll also examine how employment branding and assessments play a critical role in attracting, selecting, and developing talent that aligns with the organization’s
future needs.

Learning Objectives: In this session, your audience will walk away with:

  1. Explain the current national, state and local labor shifts, as well as a
    preview of what’s to come
  2. Shift from job-based planning to skills- and capability-based workforce
design to improve adaptability and future readiness.
  3. Apply a practical workforce planning roadmap that aligns work, skills,
    competencies, and accountability.
  4.  Evaluate talent decisions using a “make, buy, borrow, or bot” framework to
build a more flexible and sustainable workforce.
  5. Use assessments strategically to support role fit, development, and workforce
    design—not just hiring decisions.
  6. Strengthen employment branding to support long-term talent pipelines and
attract skills aligned to future work.
  7. Design accountability without micromanagement, enabling flexibility while
    maintaining clarity and performance.
